How do I create text and image links?

To start adding links, on your site you need to select a program that you have applied to and then choose a graphical element for that program. There are many ways to do this. Login to your TradeDoubler account.

Click on "List My Programs" below the search on the main page or navigate to REPORTS >> Your Programs.
  1. Click on the program you want to add links / banners from.
  2. In the program settings interface click on the "Links" tab.
  3. Click on "Graphical elements" (if there are multiple categories click on the banner category that.
  4. On the Graphical Elements page you may have the option of Text Links, Image Links, and HTML Banners etc. Once you have decided on a link please then click on 'Show Code'.
  5. A Pop up will appear with the HTML Code. Now all you need to do is copy and paste this code into your Website.
Alternatively, if you know the program you want to add graphical elements for you can use the search on the main page when you login to your TradeDoubler account. Click on the graphical elements radio button, enter the name of the program in the search field and click search.

How do I get the basic tracking link, without any JavaScript?

If you want the basic tracking link then please use the 'Link matrix'. This can be found on the right hand side when you log in under 'useful tools'. Please make sure you select your correct site at the top of the link matrix page.

How do I deep link to individual Advertiser products or pages?

Deep linking is a great way to send users directly to a product or page. Login to your TradeDoubler account. Navigate to the Link Matrix on the right hand side of your TradeDoubler interface. Select your site and then locate the program you are interested in (make sure it's a program that you have been accepted to).

Click on Yes (if available) in the "Deep Links" column and follow the deep linking instructions for the program you have selected.

How do I copy and paste?

How to Copy and Paste (once learned, never forgotten)
  1. Highlight - Position the mouse pointer at the top left of the code. Press down the left mouse button and while holding it down drag the mouse to the bottom right of the text. This should highlight the text to copy.
  2. Copy - Whilst the mouse pointer is over the highlighted text click the right mouse button and select 'Copy' (or press CTRL-C)
  3. Paste - Click where you wish the text to be inserted. Press the right mouse button and select 'Paste' (or press CTRL-V)

Error message: "there is no relationship between the site and the advertiser"

  1. If you have multiple sites, are you using the correct site ID? If you obtained the link from the "link matrix" please ensure you selected the site that has the relationship with the advertiser from the drop down menu.
  2. Please make sure you have applied to the advertisers program and have not been "denied" or put "on hold".
  3. If you have just applied to the program, please note that it will take 10 minutes before the relationship becomes active. Please remember that not all links will work once you have applied as you need to be accepted for some of the links to work.

Error message: "Cannot find site id or program id. Please inform the webmaster."

This means you have not used your TradeDoubler Account for a long time, so your account has become inactive. Please contact our support team via the contact form and explain with detail and we will activate your account.

Advertiser's banners are not displaying?

  1. You may be blocking the TradeDoubler cookie. Typically 3rd party applications such as Norton's Internet Security, Zone Alarm, PAL Evidence Eliminator, BT Yahoo Browser or other firewall/privacy protection software cause this. Please contact your software vendor or consult the manual to setup the correct permissions for the TradeDoubler cookie.
  2. Please make sure you have added the domain www.tradedoubler.com in your browsers safe list. You can do this by opening Explorer and clicking on 'Tools' then 'Internet options' and then adding the domain in the safe list.
  3. Please ensure you have been "accepted" or are "under consideration" for the advertisers program. Some advertiser banners only work once you have been accepted.
  4. Have you copied the code exactly as TradeDoubler supplied it? If you have modified the code in any way you can prevent the banner from displaying correctly.
  5. If you are using a 3rd party editor such as MS Front Page or MX Dreamweaver, please consult their help files about hand coding HTML code. TradeDoubler cannot support 3rd party applications. If the banner is still not displaying please can you copy the entire banner code and paste into the support contact form and send this to TradeDoubler support.
  6. If you are using the JavaScript links there may be a problem with your browser. Try using the HTML code.

When I click on "Show Code" it says 'not found'

Email Marketing - Can I add tracking links in emails?

Not without permission - you need to contact TradeDoubler in advance via the "Support Form" and provide an example of the email you wish to send out. If the merchant is happy to be featured in your email, we will edit the security controls for your account which would otherwise stop your link tracking.

Can I place links on other parts of my web site or on another site?

If you are using a redirecting URL, or if you have multiple sites or mirror sites on separate domains, make sure you have included all of the domains in your TradeDoubler account.

You don't need to register all pages on your site - only the top level domain(s). The system is set up to recognize only traffic referred from those sites that you have registered.

Can I put links in chat groups, forums, eBay etc?

You can only put links on site that you own. You are not allowed to put links on any other site. You are not allowed to put tracking links on auction sites such as eBay.

Mouse Over - Can I hide http://tracker.tradedoubler.?

If you wish to hide the tracking code you can do this by following the simple format below:

Do you have Product Feed or Data Feed Functionality?

Yes, TradeDoubler do not charge affiliates for using our advertiser product feeds. Please contact TradeDoubler via the support contact form with a request to have product feeds enabled for you account. Please note that it can take up to 48 hours before your feeds are generated on the system. Once they are generated you can then use the Feeds.

I have a high number of clicks and UV's but no sales, is this normal?

Unfortunately we have no control over your click to sales ratio. Certain Advertisers perform better than others when it comes to conversions. The industry standard conversion rate is approximately 1% across all programs, so for every 100 UV's you should expect 1 sale. There are a number of variables that can affect the conversion e.g. the location of your links and what links you use (banner/text).

I cannot add JavaScript codes on my site. Do you have basic HTML codes?

You need to save the banner image on your local computer and add it onto your site. However you will need the tracking codes so sales and leads can track. If you want the basic tracking link then please use the 'Link matrix'. This can be found on the right hand side when you log in under 'useful tools'. Please make sure you select your correct site at the top of the link matrix page. Then simply link the image using the code.

Can I write my own text links?

When you click on show code on the graphical elements page you can click the custom tab. This will create a basic text link and you can change the text. Also if you want the basic tracking link then please use the 'Link matrix'. This can be found on the right hand side when you log in under 'useful tools'. Please make sure you select your correct site at the top of the link matrix page. You will need basic HTML skills to change the font or colour.
