DAY 2
In our previous newsletter we covered Content Units, in this part we will look closer at Templates, how they work and how you can make them. We will also show you a few examples of different pre-made templates that you can use without having to create your own.
A Template is the name given to the actual design, layout and formatting of how you want the products in a Content Unit to be displayed on your site. The Template you chose from the interface, or create in the AdTool interface, is effectively the presentation of the Content Unit on your website.

CREATING TEMPLATES
Templates allow you to completely customise the way you want products to be displayed on your website. You can choose to have as few as just 1 or 2 products displaying at a time or as many as 50-100.
When creating templates you can specify:- Width of the template
- Number of rows & columns (this affects the number of products displayed in your template)
- Optional header(s) and footer(s)
- Layout: Choose product layout by row or by cell (depending on what you choose this will affect the number of products displayed in your templates)
- Colours: background for rows, header and footer as well as alternating row colour.
- Link colour and optional link underline
WYSIWYG EDITOR
Once you have specified the general settings you can design the look and feel of the template using the editor. The editor also allows you to choose what information to display for each product and how this will be displayed.
Product information loaded from the content unit
You can choose what information you want to display for each product in the template. What information you display is up to you and can be adapted to suit the size of your template. You can also add a link to the product to any of these elements.
Product name. You can decide how many characters you want show before the text is truncated.
Description. You can decide how many characters you want to show before the text is truncated.
Image. You can change the size of the image by specifying a width or height. It is generally not a good idea to specify both width and size of the product image unless you know for sure that all the product images have the same relative dimensions.
Price. This will display the product price.
Currency. This will display the currency of the product price (e.g. GBP).
